On November 29 - 30, 2011, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE), in coordination with the State of Arizona and the City of Phoenix will host the final of four regional energy assurance exercises. The Western Regional Energy Assurance Exercise will be held in Phoenix, Arizona at the Sheraton Downtown hotel. This exercise will involve Western States, territories, and cities who received Energy Assurance grants from DOE, along with participants from industry, non-profits, Federal, State, and local agencies.
Energy scenarios will address infrastructure interdependencies, as well as communication, collaboration, and policy responses. Participants will be able to attend workshops held during the morning of the first day highlighting energy assurance topics relevant to the energy scenarios. The Western regional exercise satisfies State and local grant recipients' interstate exercise requirements and will help participants to evaluate their energy emergency preparedness.
